Exufiber is a sterile nonwoven dressing made from highly absorbent polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fibres. In contact with wound exudate, Exufiber transforms into a gel that facilitates moist wound healing and ease of removal during dressing change. Exufiber absorbs and retains wound exudate. Exufiber is available both as pad and ribbon dressings.
Fluid absorption and retention – Hydrophilic fibres attract, absorb and lock in high levels of exudate, transforming into a soft, conformable gel. This helps to break down slough by promoting autolytic debridement, supporting a clean wound bed. Small spaces between the fibres result in less free fluid within the dressing, supporting fluid retention, even under compression, reducing the risk of leakage and maceration.

Application:
For shallow wounds:
Cleanse the wound with saline solution or water according to clinical practice.
1. Dry the surrounding skin thoroughly.
2. Choose the correct size of dressing to be able to cover the entire wound. For best results, Exufiber should overlap the dry surrounding skin by at least 1-2 cm for smaller product sizes (up to 10x10 cm) and 5 cm for larger sizes. The dressing will swell, causing contraction of the dressing edges, as it absorbs wound fluid and starts gelling.
3. Apply a dry Exufiber dressing to the wound.
4. Fixate with an appropriate secondary dressing. The choice depends on the exudate level.
5. Compression therapy may be used in conjunction with Exufiber .
For deep wounds (cavities, tunnelling or undermining):
Cleanse the wound with saline solution or water according to clinical practice.
1. Dry the surrounding skin thoroughly.
2. Loosely pack ribbon or pad into the wound to allow room for swelling of the dressing. When using the ribbon dressing, cut to the appropriate length, leaving a small overhang of 2-3 cm outside the wound for easy retrieval.
3. Cover with an appropriate secondary dressing. The choice depends on the exudate level.
4. Fixate (or cover) with an adhesive dressing or a bandage as appropriate.
Donor sites:
Harvest tissue and ensure haemostasis.

• Do not use on patients with known hypersensitivity to the dressing or its materials.
• Should infection develop during the use of the dressing, medical treatment should be initiated according to local clinical protocols. Infection is not a contraindication to the use of Exufiber dressing.
• Exufiber is not intended for dry wounds or full-thickness burns.
• Exufiber is for single use only and should not be reused. Re-use may lead to product deterioration or cross-contamination may occur.
• Sterile. Do not use if the inner package is damaged or opened prior to use. Do not resterilise.
If any serious incident has occurred in relation to the use of Exufiber , it should be reported to Mölnlycke Health Care and to your local competent authority.
